September 17, 2001 Results of the CVGP/GPAA Vote. 
CVGP: Central Virginia Gold Prospectors.

Dear Fellow Prospectors, 

After the original vote at the June 16th meeting concerning
whether or not the CVGP should be a chapter of the GPAA, the
GPAA had expressed their opinion that the vote was not a fair
one since all CVGP members were not at that meeting and not
aware that a vote was going to be taken. 

So, in fairness to the GPAA, we extended the vote to a deadline
of Sept. 1st to give ALL CVGP members an opportunity to vote.
Several E-Mail notices were sent out regarding this extension
as well as post card notices and announcements and reminders
at the July and August meetings. The votes have been tallied
and the following results were announced at this past Saturday
(9/15/01) meeting: 

 YES - "The CVGP should be a chapter of the GPAA" - 8 Votes 
 NO - "The CVGP should not be a chapter of the GPAA" - 58 Votes 

The CVGP members have spoken, the decision is FINAL and the
CVGP WILL NOT be a chapter of the GPAA.  What does this mean: 

1) Effective immediately, the CVGP will be an independent, local
prospecting club and will not be a chapter of or affiliated
with the GPAA or any other national organization. 

2) CVGP members may or may not be a GPAA member on an individual
basis at their own choosing.  Their membership or non-membership
in the GPAA will have  absolutely no bearing or affect on their
membership and/or privileges in the CVGP.
