Below is the transcript of the Minutes of our last meeting: MINUTES OF JUNE 8, 2002 MEETING Meeting started at 10:35AM Approximately 20 members present Meeting was called to order by the Vice President, Ned Skinner, in the absence of Rod Ingalls, the club president. A moment of silence was observed. Treasurer's Report - Bank account balance $2,030.64. It was decided that using 2 people to sign checks would be changed to only requiring one signature. This was necessitated by the fact that usually the 2 people only see each other once a month at the meeting. Ned showed the new club banner he had ordered and it is VERY NICE. We also acquired a small canopy to use at any demos we might set-up, such as at the Small Country Campground fair in August. A disbursement was approved to cover the cost of these two items. We are in need of volunteers to help at the fair. Hopefully we can sell some things to help buildup our cash reserve in case we find a place to go panning and need to pay a fee. We discussed a possible site for the club to pan. Ned then discussed rejoining GPAA and read communications between him and Perry Massie as follows: Dear Mr. Perry Massie, > > In regard to our phone conversation on Thursday, May > 23, 2002. > > My name is Ned Skinner, I am the Vice President of the > Central Virgina Gold Propectors Club. I relayed to > you several reasons why our club withdrew from the > GPAA last year. > > 1. We in Virginia felt that GPAA was more interested > in Alaska, California, and Arizona then anywhere else, > totally ignoring the State of Virginia. As a club we > haven't even seen our State Rep. George Litzenberger. > > 2. We were told that if we got a good claim, the GPAA > would take it over and our club would have to contend > with GPAA non club memebers, and out of state GPAA > members. > > 3. The majority of our club memebers are also members > of GPAA, some are lifetime memebers and some belong to > LDMA. > > 4. We have new people come to our meetings every month > and join. I am advocating that every member of our > club be a member of GPAA, and have had no major > arguments about this position. > > 5. I called you because of your prestige, knowledge, > and also because you're the President of LDMA. > > 6. If you could come to one of our meetings and get us > back on the right track, with correct answers to these > questions, I think it would help solidify our club. > > 7. Maybe if you have any specials on LDMA membership > at that time you would probably get several new > memebers. > > 8. We also have a place to go panning and dredging not > far from our meeting place. > > 9. Our meeting dates are: June 8, July 20, August 17, > September 21, October 26. All meetings start at 10 > a.m. and are held at Small Country Camp Grounds. A > short distance from the town of Louisa, VA. > > 10. Everyone has questions and no one seems to have > answers. > > Thank you, > > Ned Skinner > Vice President PERRY MASSIE'S REPLY Ned, I have been juggling my schedule to try and accomodate one of your meetings, but I have not been able to fit one in unless you could change the date of your September meeting to Friday Sepember 6th at 10:00 am. Maybe you could also set up an outing at the place you mention that is nearby for prospecting the following day (Saturday). I would bring my film crew and we could do a show on prospecting in Virginia. Let me know asap. Thanks, Perry Massie This subject is still under discussion and your thoughts would be welcome.
