CENTRAL VIRGINIA GOLD PROSPECTORS Report on October 20, 2007 Meeting MEETING LOCATION: The next meeting will be on December 8th at the Lovin Gold Prospecting Supplies store, 1082 Main Street (Route 15) in downtown Dillwyn at 10 AM. Bring a lawn chair. IMPORTANT: At the October 20th meeting, the subject of dredging was brought up leading to a discussion about what is allowed under the rules. The following is a statement from the CVGP Club Officers that needs to be adhered to: Because some members have been pushing the allowable dredge size, we had to request from VMRC a clarification as to how they define the measuring of dredges. According to them it is by OUTSIDE diameter of the suction hose and that diameter is NOT to exceed 4 inches. If you use a dredge bigger than that on club property, you will be considered in violation of the club's rules and your membership WILL be terminated. We will not let several people violate the rules and cause the entire club to lose their lease of the Buckingham properties. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Now, to the meeting. In the absence of our club President, the Vice President presided over the meeting. There were approximately 73 members and guests present. The Treasurer and Secretary gave their reports. John told us about the gold show in Pennsylvania on October 27 and 28. The club will have a table there and a number of our members have volunteered to help. He announced the sale of raffle tickets for a trip to Alaska. The prize is an approximate $3,000.00 value and the tickets are $10 each. The Miner's Safety Class will be November 3rd at Lovin Gold. There is a $10 fee charged by the State and if you want lunch provided it is $8. Let Ben know at (434)983-1300 if you plan to participate. The Christmas toy project was cancelled for lack of participation. The Club has become involved in a number of events in the area that help promote who we are and what we do. An Events Coordinator is needed to keep this organized. The Coordinator would also organize things like common digs for the club. If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know. There was some discussion about the leased properties: Property No. 1 has just been seeded in some areas. Please respect these areas and do not park on them. There are no signs so please be aware of this. Hopefully we will be able to get these areas marked. Prospecting Restrictions for Hunting Season-No prospecting allowed on properties 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 except on Sundays. We can still use properties 4, 7 and 8 every day of the week. Also note, the law requires blaze orange be worn during general firearms season. Remember there is a statewide burning ban in effect.-No open fires are ever allowed and be extremely careful with your grills and ashes. ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` The drawings for door prizes and gold nuggets were held, including the one ounce nugget. Needless to say, the lucky winner of the one ounce nugget was very excited when he was notified. Don't forget to get your tickets for the Alaska trip raffle. Someone is going to win and it could be you !! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE AND WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING ON DECEMBER 8TH.
